A startrails photo from the Gorge du Verdon taken at the edge of Falaise des Cavaliers towards the rock walls under Belvédère de Guègues on the other side of the canyon.
Note the 2 passes of ISS with 1:37:28 hours between – it passed from left to right at 23:59:48 and 01:37:16 (time of max altitude). The apparent magnitudes were -1,1 and -2,0 so the second pass was 2,3 times bright than the first pass.
The first pass is the “lower” one – and when it passed behind the mountain I was exited to see if it would reappear or stay down behind the mountain – to my great joy it reappeared as you can see, and it makes up for a nice little detail 😋
The first pass is the ‘lower’ one, and as it passed behind the mountain, I was excited to see if it would reappear or stay obscured. To my great joy, it reappeared, as you can see, and it adds a nice little detail to the scene for the ones that notices 😏
The second pass was at first very bright (2,3 times brighter than the first pass) but then in the “middle” of the sky it dimmed and disappeared into Earth’s shadow 🚀
