The road to the construction site of the European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT or just ELT for short).
The table top mountain of Cerro Armazones used to be higher, but the top was blown away to produce this flattened top with an altitude of 3.046 m a.s.l. where the world’s largest telescope will reside in a few years from now.
The telescope will have a main mirror with a diameter of massive 39,3 meters!! 😀
