Milky Way from a Hillside in Atacama Desert
Stranded in the Atacama Desert as our bus got stuck in the sand I shot this photo of the Milky Way from a hillside I climbed in the dark while waiting a few hours for our rescue 😊
With a group of other photographers and stargazers I had rented a bus to go photographing the Magic Bus Atacama under the stars in the dark desert night.
On our way our own bus got stuck in the sand and we couldn’t get it out so we decided to start shooting the Milky Way and the night sky instead! 😄✨🔭📸
After a few hours stuck (i.e. photographing) in desert night – we packed up our gear and walked to some busses the bus company had sent to rescue us 🚶🏻♂️
So in the end we did get our abandoned bus in the desert – we just never anticipated that it should be our own stranded bus in the desert, haha 😂👏
Atacama dessert is the driest place on Earth and with 2400 meters above sea level the night sky is fantastic!!
The Moon Vally really looks like the photos from the Moon – or rather Mars, as the ground is orange/red (but you can’t see the colours at night) 🌝
